A friend of mine has a 2007 goal to fall in love. My first thought was You can't make someone fall in love with you, but then I thought Why not? It's not about taking over someone's mind and forcing them to have feelings for you, it's about making things happen, which TA-DA, is one of my things to remember to do this year.
For example, how likely is it to fall in love while sitting at home watching Netflix movies? Hmmmm, not very likely, eh? How likely is it to fall in love while being antisocial at a party? A little more likely only because other people are involved, but how many guys want to talk to the girl in the corner?
I think the 2007 Fall In Love goal is completely feasible if looked at from the mindset of creating the opportunites to fall in love and for others to fall in love with me. I think it's about being out there and being myself and being absolutely fabulous. Who wouldn't want to fall in love with me? I just need to give them the opportunity!
I love 2007 already!

Nobody likes the girl in the corner!
Good post, good attitude!
NotCarrie, with an attitude like that (a similar epiphany is kind of the whole reason I started my blog), you'll be fighting them off with a stick in no time.
Pagan Marbury- Exactly! And I'm not the girl in the corner, but I do tend to get shy when I find out someone wants to talk to me and then I sometimes DO head towards the corner;)
Lmnt- I guess I better get a stick!
I hear K Fed is available.
:q
I don't mind girls in the corner. The problem is that I end up dating girls in the corner that are insane.
I'm never the girl in the corner but I've never fallen in love either.
Regardless, I love your attitude. I hope the person your friend (or you) falls in love with loves her back even more.
The girl in the corner can totally score is she's putting out an approachable vibe. Arms folded and facing the wall, yeah no one will approach. But smiling and saying hi as we pass by? A guy who doesn't take that invitation is blind and clueless.
Oh no, I'm not looking to be the center of attention at a bar or something. There is definitely a difference between the antisocial person in the corner and the social, friendly person in the corner. And really, I'm not saying I hang out in the corner;) I'm just giving examples of attitudes.
Good for you. I fall in love all the time watching Netflix at home, but I understand you want it to be reciprocated.
I'm social at parties, but I definitely put my wall up when I think someone might be interested. I think I just get spooked and clam up. How do I stop doing that?
that's a great mindset. i hope 2007 brings you love and a whole lotta fun!
lets hope 2007 works out to the best for ya..
I think that's a great idea and a good attitude for the new year! Hope you find a great love this year!
Churlita- "I'm social at parties, but I definitely put my wall up when I think someone might be interested. I think I just get spooked and clam up. How do I stop doing that?" EXACTLY!!!!!!!!
Jo- Thanks!
Twix- I have high hopes;)
Recovering- Yay!
You pretty much took the words right of my brain with this post. I've got to start focusing in the the same way.
And hey, *I'm* in love with you, and I don't even go for girls. So if you can charm a straight girl, I don't think it'd be too hard to make a guy see your fabulousness.
You've got to overcome that social "wall" when you think someone's interested. I get over this by convincing myself I don't care one way or the other. If you don't care, then there's nothing to be nervous or shy about. Don't have any expectations... just talk.
Miss Syl- Aw! You are too sweet:)
Harleyblue- Yeah, I do need to work on that. I promise to try!
I usually occupy all corners at parties. I've never seen a girl in any of the corners.
It makes me wonder if girls actually go to corners at parties.
Crap...must be different corners! We need to coordinate that better.
Hmm. Hows she going to go about this, then? I've always wanted to see a good mirroring experiment in action. Seems to work for the short-term, at least.
To fall in love while watching a movie is easy. To do it IRL, with someone that snores, leaves shaving cream dotted in black on the sink and who's socks and shoes you trip over endlessly in your own apartment...?
Good luck, either way! :)
It's all about the attitude! And being open to it.
