Do you ever has those guys you don't know but see every now and then? And every time you see them they make your heart race and you get a little breathless? I have one of those. I don't know his name or anything about him. I just know that I see him all over both D.C. and Fairfax. We lock eyes...my heart races. My cheeks are like two rosy mood rings betraying my interest. I saw him again last night and have decided it's about time I go in for the kill.

I need one of these SO badly.
oh oh.. me too me too. i want to be second in line.
Just to throw my 2 cents in on this situation...My story goes a little something like this: I had been running into/seeing this guy all over the city (Chicago) for the past 2 months...on the evening train (eye contact fo sho), around the neighborhood, etc. Then it turns out he lives next door to the last guy I dated. Then I randomly come across his profile on match.com and we have SO many similar interests, it was weird. Scary even. So, I finally decide that if I don't see him over the weekend, I am going to wink at his profile (I don't pay; haven't gotten there yet). And I then I chicken out and don't.
Wake up Monday morning and decide that I just need to get a grip and get over it. That same morning I see him for the first time on my morning commute (way up north). So, I strap on a set, and get off at his stop (mine is two stops further, but it was a gorgeous day)...follow him, tap him on the arm and say hello. He seems very responsive, asks me my name, what I do, says he's glad I said hi, etc. We walk and talk for a while until he has to turn right and I go straight...it seems that he is asking for my number, so I reach into my bag for my card and tell him to email if he wants to. He says he definitely will.
Cut to that night...A friend is visiting from CA and we go out for dinner/drinks...THE BOY is there. I NEVER go out on Mondays (the weekend usually destroys me) and rarely go to that bar. I freak out. This is just TOO weird. I see him leave, so I go outside to say hi. He is totally taken aback, but seems happy to see me. Now, I'm cute, funny, smart, outgoing (don't have problems getting dates), but he just seemed totally scared. Almost as if I was stalking him or something.
Needless to say, he hasn't emailed. Apparently, in this day and age where we women are not supposed to be meek, timid, meager beotches, guys still can't handle the assertive, confident women that will actually LIVE their life instead of creating/living a fantasy.
Sorry, that was way long, but I had to say something on the topic. I'm currently writing an article titled, "(Not) Missed Connection: Reality v. Fiction, Take Your Pick." Or something to that effect.
The way I see it, you can continue to see this guy and obsess (not that you are, but I was beginning to with my MC) about him and create a fantasy about him in your head, or you can go for it and see what he's like in real life, therefore creating room for another, more suitable crush/fantasy man if, by chance, MC#1 is an ass, or actually begin a REAL relationship--whether that be friendship or otherwise.
Bottom line: No regrets. While I may have potentially scared my MC away, do I really want to be with some dude who's masculinity is put in jeopardy simply because a woman approached him for a change?
Good luck and keep us posted.
i'm with the other girls on this one. Make contact. A flirty come-hither smile might work in this case;)
go in for the kill... and then blog bout it :)
I have a guy that I see almost every morning on the metro. I've never spoken to him, but I think he looks like a Zach. I never know which day he'll be riding and which he wont. I love it!!
Ah...he's your "everywhere man." I had one back in my college days but never had the balls to do anything about it...
Go for it! There's a reason why you keep running into him!
a l'amore. Tis fate. Run, catch, kiss!
Oooo, thanks for the story, Chitownlady! Definitely something to keep in mind.
In other news (and I swear this is the completely true), he was on my bus yesterday as I was coming home! I've never seen him on the bus before and he was equally floored. He kept craning around to look at me and would look as everyone got off to see if I'd hit my stop. Due to other drama going on at the time I didn't say anything but swear I will next time. Let's hope he doesn't think I'm his stalker!
