Apparently, today is
Black Day, an informal day in South Korea when singletons get together to "commiserate" their lack of mate. I must thank
Wikipedia for bringing this to my attention and also for having links to other
articles about the day I have been missing out on for twenty-some years. Maybe we're missing out by not "celebrating" our own day by eating noodles with questionable black stuff on them. I like the idea of having a day to go out and drink though. I can always participate in a holiday involving alcohol.
So for today, here is to all of us singletons! Have a drink! Cheers!

Huh, this Black Day sounds depressing. Like a national pity party!
Yeah, this seems pretty depressing. "National black day, where you shut your blinds, put on some radiohead, and eat lots of carbs that may or may not be black in color (not that it matters, cause you're in the dark, loser!)"
I'm going to change today to "Yellow Day" -- Valentine is behind us, Easter/Passover is on our doorstep, and spring/summer across the street. I'm going to go pound some lemon drops to celebrate Yellow day!! Who wants to come??
I never said being single was bad. And Black happens to be one of my favorite colors and I am neither goth, nor depressed. THEY are the ones acting like being single is bad...I'm taking Black (er, Yellow?) Day and making it a GOOD day. A celebration!
HAPPPPPPPY Black (Yellow) Day! It's a good thing!
Ok, Happy GOOD day everyone!!!
NC, can we still have lemon drops be the drink of choice for GOOD day? :)
Yes, singleguy. Ohhhh yes. I love a good lemon drop. Or a bad one, really, I don't care.
Single Guy...so we don't get to read anything about you now? I am sad.
You DO get to read about me -- just happens to be through your wonderful blog. :) I am also available for questions and consultations at singleguyblogging@gmail.com
Haha, the email is really what I was going for. I'm glad you're sticking around comment-wise, at least.
Lets have one for Jesus while we're at it;)
I think Black Day should become an official day in North America.
The happy holidays can make people depressed. ie) Christmas, Valentine's Day.
Perhaps a depressing day will get people to appreciate what they have. Or it can just give people permission to feel good about feeling sorry for themselves.
happy black day! :)
oops, i missed this day (well, i'm not korean, but i AM single)
yellow day -- of friendship?
cheers notcarrie!
I did go out and drink yesterday...wish I had read this ahead of time...if I'd known it was an 'official' day...i would have really celebrated.
and to think i've missed out on eating noodles with black bean sauce all these years... and i didn't even drink on that friday...
