Getting schooled

Thanks for all of your comments on the NotTutorboy situation. I have to tell you how shocked I am that this seems a fairly common occurrence. I guess I'm just glad it took 31 years to happen to me. ; )

It turns out NotTutorboy isn't dead. Go figure. On Thursday afternoon I get an email that goes something like this:

NotMiranda,

I just wanted to see how you're doing. I know I've been MIA for a week. How are things?

NotTuturboy

Really? My first thought was you've got to be fucking kidding me. Later that evening guess who shows up at the bookstore to tutor looking waaaaay too good. I proceeded to ignore him as best as possible and made sure to be unavailable* when his tutoring session ended. Friday morning I got to work and crafted my response.

NotTutorboy,

I'm good.

I'm a pretty laidback, chill** girl, but what you did (the lack of email or voicemail response when we had plans) was a pretty shitty thing to do. You pursued me, so what happened? Girlfriend? Something changed? You tell me.

NotMiranda

It's been almost a week since I sent that email and no response. He showed up for tutoring again last night and gave me the smile/wave. Again, I ask what the fuck. I waved back thinking 'screw you' in my head. It pisses me off that he looks so good when he comes in and that all that good chemistry is going to waste. Honestly, though, what gets me the most is that I didn't see it coming. I'm usually known for being able to read people. To be proven so wrong kind of knocks the wind out of a girl's sails.

*I was also extremely tipsy thanks to a between job happy hour that resulted from a stressful work day and that email.
**And I was in this case. I was making no promises and asking for no commitments. I was Ms. Go-with-the-Flow.

wow he's weak...
What good is chemistry when there's really no substance?

wow, what a douche. I hope you only used one finger when you waved back at him ;).

Roxy said it best - the guy is just plain NOThappening

I don't know if "weak" is the right word. That's pretty ballsy of him to come back in your store after that. And I don't mean that in a good way.

I hate when chemistry between two people goes to waste.

to be blunt he only wanted one thing and just like girls, guys can create chemistry when they want to, sorry, don't worry though he is still an arse.

What doesn't make sense from the female perspective, though, is if he really did only want one thing, fine. Why did he leave without getting it?

Thank god you didn't break the five date rule for that one huh?

fucker...what does it take? a minute? two? to type a response...oh, that's just too easy or maybe too honest...they'd rather wait another week or so and then email like nothing happened...hate that...fucker...

OMG, i just read the backstory. i am so sorry this happened to you. i have definitely been there before, more than once. and it SUCKS. it's frustrating (in more than one way!), confusing, hurtful and can really piss a girl off.

i have no idea why guys do this. i wish i could offer an explanation, but i can't. all i can do is tell you that not every guy is like this. and to just take a deep breath, realize it wasn't YOU, it was HIM being an ASSHOLE.

Next!!

{{{hugs}}}

He's probably used to girls playing games and beating around the bush. That email probably showed that you weren't one of them.. You're too good for his ass.. move on...

I wish we girls could just let shit go - especially when the guy isn't worth it. But I seem to mull for weeks about why a guy acted the way he did. I think we just try to make sense of things when some boys just have no sense.

What an ass. Well, on the bright side, at least this happened earlier than later. You deserve someone much more consistent.

you should stalk him.

definitely.

muhaha.

He's a moron and a coward. Although, I find it so odd that he keeps showing up at your work and waving. It would be easier to get him out of your head if he wasn't constantly in your face. Guys are so strange.

Wow - what a loser! Honestly, it sounds like he sounds like the kind of man who goes out of his way to pursue a woman, then changes his mind when the chase is over.

I use the term "man" loosely here, since it's obvious this guy doesn't qualify - how childish that he hasn't even answered your email. I agree with everybody who's commented - he is definitely not worth your time.

don't even TRY to analyze. all you need to know is that he's an ass and there is no good explanation for his actions (believe me, i've had this happen enough to know!)
