Poppin Fresh

Recently, I have acquired a new job at a bakery. I absolutely love it because it not only gives me baking experience for when I own my own bakery one day, but this new place of employment has a plethora of hot men.
I have decided to find me a bakery boyfriend. I have a few in mind already and have already started to make my move. The bakery manager is a 26 year old tall drink of hottness and every chance I get, I make witty comments and flash a patented "notcharlotte smile" his way. Sadly, I have to go by facial features only, as our pure white uniforms do nothing for the female figure. During the times I realize that boning/flirting with managers is a big no-no, I mosey on over to the bread section, where the biggest concentration of highly attractive males lies. I work at 5am and there's nothing like sleepily stumbling over to the men kneading the big balls of dough and asking them to get something for me that's "just too high for me to get."
I think I've started roping a couple in. Just the other day, I was invited into an interesting conversation about music and its' relationship to emotions as I was making my way to the freezer.
Just call me the bakery whore. I just hope I can recognize who's who when I see them without their uniforms on...

Do any of you have work "boyfriends/girlfriends?" Doesn't it make work a slight bit more bearable?

It's always nice to lust after someone at work. If you're going to be there for 8 hours, you may as well have something nice to look at.

Yay! I would agree that eye candy at work definitely can spice up your day in a good way =) And if it turns into something more - great, I think so long as 1) they are not your boss or vice versa, 2) the office is big enough that you won't be working in very close contact with them if things don't work out. I want a bread boy!

Work boyfriends are a fantastically awesome way to get through the day. Speaking from experience, they are a ton of fun and can even motivate you to perform a little better on the job ;-)

There is a girl at my night job that flirts with me.

We have fun but it isn't moving any further.

I've got several workplace crushes. I've got one that fixes my computer. I flirted with him until he moved me to the top of the list to get the next flat screen monitor. He's utterly adorable- a burly teddy bear.

Then there's another workplace crush that's a bit more dangerous- we talk all the time, email back and forth, eat lunch together. He, unfortunately, has a girlfriend, but it took him a couple of months to bring her up. I already knew she existed- other co-workers told me- but I wanted him to tell on his own. Eventually I had to drag the info out of him with crafty questions- he so didn't want to admit she existed! No chance for me. But talking to him makes the day go by so much faster.....

Just ask him if he can put some cream in your bagel.

Flirting makes work FUN.

I'm jealous about all the hotties... get enough for us all :)

it's been a while - now that i think about it - since i had a work boyfriend. i miss it! public relations is so very female-dominated.

I had the perfect work boyfriend environment for awhile, in a restaurant staffed almost entirely by gay men. They were great eye candy, awesome friends, and no danger of becoming morning gossip if anything happened (because it wouldn't!).

Actually acting on it can be tricky, though. Be prepared for every guy in the bakery to be talking about the consistency of your bread basket the next day!

What a fun treat of a job!

The only guys at my job are in their fifties and look like they're nine months pregnant. Just thinking of them and the word "boyfriend" in the same sentence, brings bitter green bile up in the back of my throat...Oh, to work in a bakery full of hot men. Sigh.

It gives you something to look at, and speed up the day, that's for sure. The boy apparently thinks so too and took it several steps further because "she" called me a couple weeks ago to let me know just what kind of extra curricular fun they've been having at work....er... I mean... in her bed.

Ok, I'm jealous, too -- the only girl even relatively near my age and not married at work is gorgeous, but one of the most conservative fundamentalist xtian whackjobs I've ever met. Not exactly my type. Oh, and she's engaged.

jo: they're hot AND they can bake... what more can a girl want?

lmnt: you obviously are in the wrong line of business.

Yes, it certainly does make the day go by. But be careful of the backwash...it can be a bitch!
