Eavesdropping

I'm sitting on a train eavesdropping on a couple near me, and I have to tell you that what I'm hearing is terrifying. The man and woman travellong together are likely coworkers. One married, the other single. Both are somewhere in their 40s-50s. Listening to the single woman talk about being on match.com and guys winking at her. I know for certain that I don't want to still be talking about this crap at 50.

66 year old widowed mom talking about her eHarmony experiences :).

And yea, I feel lame enough talking to people at work about my Yahoo/eHarmony matches and I am in my 30s.

Who knows!? She could be looking for her 5th husband?? Marriage could be a very lucritave business you know! Look at it this way, at least she hasnt given up! she's still in the game!

Oh shit. That's not good news, at all. I dont think you have anything to worry about... Match and eHarmony are just tools to "find" a date, and ultimately make the process of dating a matter of winking and emailing

We all know how fabulous you are, and these folks are just desperate. You will never be desperate, honey.

i love eavesdropping, but sometimes you really don't want to hear what you're listening to, but you just
can't
stop

Speaking of which...if anyone has any examples for this NY Post article, please stop by and leave them on the blog. Sorry to threadjack, but she just contacted me and she needs some examples by this evening.

"Hi Moxie,

Love your blog. Really enjoy it! I'm writing an article for the NY Post on the phenomenon of "false advertising" in dating -- the time a date did something totally out of character to keep you on the hook. Example: The dude who takes you to the ballet for the first date, then reveals himself to be a cro-magnon thereafter.

Would LOVE to hear of any examples you or your friends might have -- and, of course, I will mention your website.

Thank you! "

Anybody? Please share here:

My mom's about to get divorced and asked me about online dating. Meeting people at any age isn't easy. You never know how stuff is going to turn out. I hope you're not dating at 50 as well, but who knows. You may get divorced at 49.

By the way, hit the trashcan on these spam comments.

If that is me in 20 years I will die. Remind me to pray tonight.

I hate even telling people I have a blog. I would never say anything about a matching maker site.

I prefer to meet psychos in a bar. ;-)

I couldn't agree more that I want to be doing anything but talking about that kind of stuff in my middle years.
