'Tis the Season

The holiday season is supposed to be one of giving, helping those less fortunate. Well, the girls here at NSATC have decided that we, too, would like to give this holiday season. It is in the spirit of Christmahanukwanzaakah that the Not girls ask for your help. How so? We are in the process of organizing a charity auction in which the items to be auctioned off are dates with all of those hott, single male readers (commenters and noncommenters alike). One thing we've gathered in blogging here is that there are a lot of single men and women out there just trying to figure out how to hook up*. What better way to spread love, introduce you all to new people and raise money for charity than to hold an auction?! Guys...this is where your help comes in. We need all you single, male readers out there to volunteer to be put up on the auction block. Think of all of the benefits of selling yourself like a piece of meat: (1) giving to a good cause; (2) the opportunity to meet a potentially cool girl; and (3) an ego boost when bids go high. All you need to do is send me an email at notmiranda@gmail.com and provide the following information:

*indicate your willingness to participate
*city/state where you are located
*name
*blog (if applicable)
*photo

You have until December 15th to volunteer! And, ladies, don't think we've forgotten about you. We will post details soon about how the auction will work and how you can get a look at the eligible dates. Just know that we're working hard to bring you the best and have a few surprises up our sleeve. We've currently got our fingers crossed that a certain, hot celebrity blogger will participate ; )

*i.e., meet someone...not "hook up".

Haha, great idea and sounds like it might be for a good cause!

I might just have to volunteer - although I'm sure the money you would raise from me would probably only pay for the postage needed to send the money raised to the charity haha.

Good luck!

I apologize for my skepticism, but could you please be a little ... ok, a LOT more clear about the actual structure of this idea. Because as much as I'd love to help you raise money for charity (National Runaway Switchboard, not that I'm biased), right now it sounds like people bidding fake money to "win" people halfway across the country or out of the country or whatnot. If you have a cohesive plan, explain it. And if not, please come up with one.

Well, I just assured myself of no bids. :)

NotMiranda said...

Senor Beavis - I appreciate your skepticism but assure you there is indeed a plan. I hope that no one here is desperate enough to want a scenario like you lay out (fake $$, "winning" people clear across the country). All parties should realize this is a financial transaction where money donated to secure your date will be collected on (or no "win") and will go to V-Day*, the global movement to stop violence against women.

As for the how, once all male volunteers are secured, we will assess which areas of the country bidding will take place. I'm still working out the technological kinks as to how bidding will take place, but our goal is for an online process similar to Ebay with bidding taking place over the course of two days. While there will be no way for us to limit someone in California from bidding on a male in Chicago, but we will issue a list of rules forbidding this. We're hoping the honor system will suffice.

Once the two-day bidding is up, "winners" will be contacted, as well as the male volunteers. Rest assured there will be a list of caveats promoting safety in meeting people online, plenty of legal exemptors for the Not girls if you guys turn out to be crazy, etc.

Needless to say, none of this will work if we don't have men to auction off. Right now I've got three volunteers secured, including our celebrity blogger. I hope this has assuaged some of your fears enough to consider putting yourself up on the auction block.

*We're actually still debating charities, and this is not 100% certain.

Thanks for the clarification. Now who's going to underwrite the therapy needed if you only get a "pity bid?" :)

Also, if your celebrity blogger is Tucker Max, then I'm never talking to any of you again. Even NotCarrie. :)

NotCarrie said...

Senor Beavis- There will be no pity bids. I'm too poor for pity bids. And if we don't have any chicas in your area then a road trip will have to be in order for the Nots.

NotSamantha said...

Okay...Senor Beavis lives in Chi town...talk about cold. Maybe a road trip after the spring thaw...

NotCarrie said...

NotSam- Do you know me at all? The cold is ideal.

NotSamantha said...

NotCar...I know you love the cold. Have fun. This southern belle holds no love for the cold weather. Although if the cold cities boast hot men...

NotCarrie said...

Maybe I can go scope it out when its cold and then let you know, Hahaha.

Good luck with this - neat idea. Please keep me posted for what you want from us lady bloggers.

I can't volunteer. I'm crazy.

But who wouldn't wanna date Tucker Max? If I was a chick, that sounds like a fun night to me! It's total blogging material, at least. :p

Ohhhh... girls of No Sex and the City. Great idea.

We, over at The Houston Circle, would love to get involved, however Minneapolis, Houston, Cleveland and Phily... will there be men from those cities? If so... we're betting. If not... we've got a strict, "No flying for Sex" rule. And by strict, I mean we're all trying to not break it (and we end up doing it all the time).

The Retropolitan said...

This is awfully exciting. I'll mention it over where I blog.

Scarlet Hip said...

Who's Tucker Max?

The Dummy said...

I'm giving this an honorable mention too on my blog. Good luck!

Cool idea. Alas, I have a girlfriend... otherwise, I'd put that "No pity bids" theory to the test.

NotCarrie said...

Mikey- TELL YOUR SINGLE FRIENDS!:)

Anonymous said...

"no flying for sex rule" HAHA!!!

Yeah, I'm not into that either unless your name is Derek Jeter and you ARE Derek Jeter.

Anyway, right now I'm on dating/relationship hiatus (vomit)... but I can judge or something.

OH wait... can I use the date to clean my car? My house? vacuum the lawn? You know.. the usual?

Dizzie said...

Whoa, such a disapointment - I'm over here, and all the eligible, single bachelors are over there... over the ocean... so far away...

NOT a nice thing to do!

*sigh*

NotCarrie said...

Thanks, McKay!

Heart of Darkness- There have to be SOME eligible guys over there!

The Retropolitan said...

How many auctionees do you have lined up so far?

NotMiranda said...

The Retropolitan - We currently have 15 committed men to auction off from DC, LA, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, and one dear soul from the UK. I'm waiting for you to put your bid in ; )

The Retropolitan said...

Jeez, none from New York?

What a great idea, and a worthy cause! I posted a link to your site on my site to help you out. Good luck!
